Content Creation Basic Tools

Content Creation Basic Tools

Creating content that resonates doesn't have to be an overwhelming process. After all, you're using your social media as an extension of your soul to connect with the souls of others.

You're using technology in the name of light, to ignite inspired action in others and share your wisdom and creativity with the world - that sounds fucking cool! Have fun and get creative with it!

With a few essential tools and some thoughtful approaches, you can produce videos and posts that connect with your desired community and align with your authenticity.

Here's a glimpse into my content creation basics kit, designed to keep things simple yet effective.

Shooting Videos: Tools and Techniques

For my TikTok videos, I often shoot directly in the app. This approach is quick and convenient, especially if the content is meant for TikTok alone.

However, when I plan to share the video on Instagram as well, I use my phone's camera. This helps avoid potential issues with social media algorithms that may limit your video's reach if they detect recycled content from another platform.

Occasionally, I use a small microphone for better audio quality if I'm planning on moving away from the camera or shooting from a different perspective with my tripod.

My mics are from JB Hi-Fi, and they come with dual functionalities: they can plug into my phone or computer and can also record directly into themselves as a backup. This dual mic set is especially handy for podcast interviews.

I'll link the one I get but you can find small phone mics on amazon for cheaper. I haven't tried them so I don't have a rec for a cheaper one sorry!

Editing: Keeping It Simple and Effective

If I've shot the content in TikTok, I usually edit it there, unless I want more creative control.

For more detailed editing, I turn to CapCut. CapCut is my go-to tool for editing videos, particularly for Instagram, as the platform's in-app editing can be quite limited and cumbersome.

Editing in CapCut allows me to maintain consistency across different platforms, ensuring that the video meets the specific requirements of each. I only have the free version. It's good!

Enhancing Content with Text and Captions

Adding on-screen text and captions in the apps is a crucial step. Not only does this help make your content more accessible, but it also aids the algorithm in identifying the right audience for your videos.

The written elements can highlight key points and engage viewers who might be watching without sound.

Lighting and Equipment

A tripod is a simple yet effective tool in my kit. I sometimes use a $39 tripod from JB Hi-Fi, but often, a windowsill serves as a makeshift stand for my phone.

While I don't typically use a ring light due to personal preference, good lighting is essential. Natural light works best for me at this stage, but if you prefer an artificial setup, consider soft, neutral lighting for your face and a warm or purpley background light to set a cozy tone.

Editing for Engagement

To keep my videos engaging and concise, I edit out the "umms" and "ahhs." This helps maintain a punchy pace, allowing me to convey deep insights in a short amount of time.

It’s all about respecting the viewer’s attention span and providing value without unnecessary filler.

By focusing on simplicity and authenticity, you can produce videos that not only look good but also resonate with your audience. Simple is the path to least resistance so you can get yourself out there, practising and finding ways to make content that you enjoy.

If you don't like a style you created, that's ok! No need to do more of that, try something else.

Whether you’re using advanced equipment or just your phone and a tripod, the key is to stay true to your message and enjoy the process.

I hope these tips help you streamline your content creation journey!!
